Datsik (sometimes stylized as DatsiK) is the alias of Troy K. Beetles, a dubstep DJ and producer from British Columbia, Canada, and a prominent figure in the increasingly popular dubstep community. Beetles is known for his frequent collaborations with his friend and colleague Excision and has been producing music since 2008.

Beetles has described his sound as “dark and robotic,” while trying to remain “funky and gangster” and “dirty,” and has mentioned the significant influence hip-hop has had on his music. He has cited a wide range of musical inspirations, including Wu-Tang Clan members RZA and Method Man.

In 2009 alone, Datsik had 7 number one releases on Beatport, and he has had successful vinyl sales on many other sites such as Chemical Records, Red-Eye, and Juno.

The stage name “Datsik” was inspired by his former Xbox Live Gamertag, which was itself inspired by Russian MMA fighter Viacheslav Datsik.

I was kind of bummed that I didn’t have anything special to bring you guys on our 1 year Anniversary, I was going to do a mix but my APC got smashed to the floor by some drunk chicks before a rave. I was still waiting on interviews to get back, and today I got hit up by Datsik’s people saying they were a fan of the site and had a new remix from him. How awesome, Datsik’s track “Havoc” was the first dubstep track I ever heard and is literally the reason why I started this blog, and now here we are. It’s funny how things come full circle in ways you can’t even believe some times. I guess this was meant to be.

I want to thank you all for your continued support in helping DUBliminal.COM grow into what it is today on our 1 year! We’ve come a long way since then. Remember when I had the shitty green dubliminal header? Since then I’ve had the privilege to interview some of the brightest up and coming producers to some of the biggest filthiest producers in the scene. It’s been a great journey so far and I look forward to keep bringing you the freshest content possible.

If it wasn’t for you guys spreading the word the scene wouldn’t be where it is today, and that’s the goal right? Expose as many people as possible to this sound that we love and crave. Any dubstep fan knows that we are a unique breed, it’s that sound that you can’t explain, you have to feel it to understand it. No other genre can do to people what dubstep does to your body when that low bass hits, it’s fucking addictive. Thank you guys for being as passionate about the music as I am.

Crystal Method’s record drops November 16th, with another big remix from the State’s own, Omega.

Hello boys and girls! Datsik just dropped some chill bootlegs on us for your listening pleasure! I have to say that out of the 3, the remix of M83′s “We Own the Sky” is probably my favorite, as “Kids” is rinsed out at this point. I like how he goes mellow the whole track and starts to get dirtier towards the end. So there ya go heads, real proper! Enjoy and don’t forget to share!

Well my fellow dub heads, a producer by the name of Datsik was in town Friday, not too sure if you guys have heard of him or not (extreme sarcasm)… but he was here and he FUCKING SMASHED THE METRO TO PIECES! I must say I had the time of my life, which you’ll see in this little taster I put together… Datsik brought it HARD on the 1st of July, leaving everyone completely soaked in sweat as his high energy and disgusting bass literally had everyone in the place lit up like a fuckin’ Christmas tree. Even if you were completely sober (?) you felt like you were on cloud 9, here’s just a taste of what he brought to Chi-Town…

Anything with his name attached to it is pretty much a red flag to start steppin’ like kangaroos. Never a disappointment and always a pleasure…

Just to make a quick comment, Swagga is already crazy enough, and is in every dub dj’s rotation…but when you add Downlink to the mix, (literally) it just makes the track that much better. I can tell you right now that these guy are in my top 5 favorite dub artists, and to have all 3 of their talents blended together is a rarity, (for now at least) so enjoy this great Downlink remix, he fuckin’ smashed it!
